I’m very happy with the whole experience. They’ve been very patient and understanding with me as a disabled author, which I’ve greatly appreciated; their contract was very good compared to the industry standard for a first-time author, and they’ve involved me in the creative process throughout (which many publishers don’t). They don’t offer an advance, but most publishers don’t do advances these days, especially for debut authors. 5310 Publishing never asked for a single penny from me, just as it should be for a traditional publisher, and unlike many small-press publishers do not force the author to do their own publicity (they request that you should help to promote your books on social media, but it’s not a requirement). I think my favourite thing about them is that they’re very ethical and do a lot for worthy causes, which is something I’m very passionate about too. I’m very happy working with them and would highly recommend the whole publishing experience to any authors considering sending in their manuscript.

I’ve read many of my Author Family’s books, and I’m glad to be in the company of highly rated authors.

The 5310 MyAuthor Portal allows us to update news on our website page (yay, I didn’t have to build and host a website!), write blogs, and access resources and marketing tools. Authors also enjoy engagement and author appreciation bonuses and special discounts, which I haven’t heard of other small presses offering.

5310 Publishing is where creativity lives and breathes! In a world of sequels and reboots, 5310 Publishing craves originality. The idea of being a published author had never occurred to me before meeting them. I had self-published two short stories on Amazon when I, fortuitously, met Eric on Twitter. Immediately, I felt something different about him than I did about most folks in the “writing community” on social media. Most of social media is filled with people telling why you will never be able to achieve your dreams. Eric was the exact opposite. Through our conversations, I found inspiration to write like I hadn’t felt… maybe ever. Eric told me to shoot for the moon and encouraged me throughout every step of the writing process.

When it came time to begin querying or “shopping” my manuscript, Eric was once again a mentor. He encouraged me to test the waters of the publishing world but also wanted his shot at publishing my work. Any author who has queried knows it is the most nerve-racking part of the entire process. Eric made it easy and again taught me how to prepare my novel properly to sell it. Signing my contract with 5310 Publishing was the highlight of my professional life.

During the editing process, Alex was fantastic! His notes were always professional and constructive; if I disagreed, the discussion was equally professional. Ultimately, Alex and Eric made the editing process a dream because they always kept in mind that it was my story… which is not the case at most publishing houses.

I’ve published three books with Eric and Alex, and one got translated. Publishing my books with 5310 was a breeze! Working with Eric is great.
